Virtue Natural Bakery has been serving hungry Vancouverites at local farmers markets since 2017. Our West Broadway storefront is open and we are continuing to build a team of passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated people! In addition to our artisanal gluten-free baked goods and breads, we also offer specialty organic coffee and tea.

Closing Shift

The ability to micro-foam milk and create latte art consistently is a requirement. We are an open concept gluten-free bakery-café, and it is important that our staff maintain excellent levels of quality and cleanliness. Cleaning is a big part of this job and when there are no customers to serve it will be necessary to wash and put away any dishes that accumulate. This position includes closing the shop which require high energy and focus. Attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to stay on task while maintaining a positive attitude in a busy environment are necessary. We are looking for mature, outgoing baristas who love people and consistently maintain a high level of professionalism, along with top customer service. Our goal is to greet every customer with a smile when they walk in the door. The following duties are required but not limited to:

  • Take customer orders and operate a point of sale

  • Explain beverages and food items to customers

  • Prepare coffee on an espresso machine: pour shots and froth milk carefully

  • Quality control of espresso and grinder throughout the day

  • Prepare tea and tea lattes

  • Prepare nut milks

  • Bottle cow's milk

  • Serve baked goods and breads to customers

  • Accept and store deliveries

  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, washing hands frequently

  • Clean espresso machine at the end of the day

  • Empty and replace bus bins

  • Wash and put away any dishes as needed throughout the day

  • Stamp bags and refill tea, coffee and any items necessary

  • Note items that are low in stock

  • Close out the cash register and make deposit

  • Ability to lift up to 20kg

  • Sweep and mop floors

  • Clean sinks, counter-tops, and appliances

  • Clean bathroom, windows and other cleaning tasks

  • Sort and take out recycling, take out garbage and compost

Shifts are generally Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, anytime between 12:00pm - 7:00 pm - these are closing shifts and require 2-3 hours of cleaning.

Total hours 22-24 per week over 4 shifts.
